What is the difference between extemp and commentary? |

Aside from having a shorter prep time, a shorter speaking time, and the requirement of being seated when you give a Commentary speech, as opposed to standing like “regular” Extemp, in their basic form, the two events are quite similar. However, whereas Extemp is (ideally) the explanation of facts mixed with personal analysis, Commentary uses very few facts and the speaker should be offering, primarily, their own “commentary” about the topic
