Spencer Rockwell is a senior at Palisade High School in Palisade Colorado. He has been competing in International Extemp for three years. He has so far qualified in IX to NFL nationals all three years he has been competing; he’s qualified to the Colorado state tournament three times as well, placing third and first the last two years. His Junior year, Spencer became the 2006 champion in International Extemp at NFL nationals. Emily is a junior at the University of New Mexico majoring in Economics and Spanish currently studying abroad at the University of Granada, Spain. In High School, Emily competed in Domestic Extemporaneous and Policy Debate at Eldorado High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is a member of the University of New Mexico’s Forensics Squad. During the 2005-2006 Season, her team received top awards at many National tournaments, including Novice Nationals and the National Parliamentary Debate Association Nationals. She rides horses, plays piano, and watches Project Runway reruns in her spare time. While at CDE this summer, we had the rare opportunity to get an inside view of Emily’s perspective on debate:
